Paint to music, by the lakeside

lalalalalaaa~ Helo. As i've stated in my last post, this is the final class we have together with our lecturer Miss Lisa. Also the final class for the subject 2D Design in Foundation in Design school.
The first half of the session, we listened to classical music, supplied by Miss Lisa. This is my painting outcome when listening to those certain few classical musics:

How can i explain it, it sort of just turned out that way because for the first song, my mind was completely blank with no clue on what to paint. But when it was almost over, i just had an urge to get some green paint, and let it flow downwards, and later adding some yellowy, pink and orange fluffballs. It was mostly because i was influenced by this tune, which sounded kind of royal-ish and light at the same time. Thus the colour yellow, and other light-looking colours. Then later, a dark kind of classical music came on, which led me to contemplate on adding black. But i was afraid black might accidentally cover up the light colours, so i opted for dark blue. I started swirling the blues at the bottom of the canvas, but then thought, since its dark, might as well add some flare to it. So i started splattering my dark blue along the bottom. alot. After that, as expected, a swan lake kind of music came on, so i decided to paint a ballerina. But instead of just one, i decided to paint 2. The black one, is the one that is more noticeable while the light peach coloured is hidden somewhere along the right side of the canvas, watching the black prima donna dance and twirl.

For the pop music half, before it started everyone went to wash our things in the washroom nearby. When i was walking past a small pond, staring at the small fishes making ripples everywhere, i decided on painting something with ripples for the next half. Which led to this:

I can honestly say, i dont know how it turned out this way. Listening past the second music, i decided to leave the top half of the canvas blank hence explaining why the ripple takes up more space on the canvas. But after a while, listening some more, the pop music just made me feel like adding some sort of explosion atop the ripple. Of course, i didnt use a paintbrush to paint it with. Afraid i might get the strokes too thick and less exploding-like, i decided to use a cloth i had brought along as something to wipe dry my brushes instead to paint. When Miss Lisa came by and i was adding along the finishing touches, she thought the upper half of the painting on the canvas was a flower. I admit it was a little disappointing to hear that what i intended to paint wasnt seen, which is, an explosion, but at least i found out i accidentally painted a double picture. :) It could be a flower on the water, or it could be an explosion just above the surface of the water.

So after that Miss Lisa had everyone line up their canvases along together to let them dry. And we had a group shot. In memory of our last class together. I must say, it was a very fun and new experience, for i had never painted to music, let alone paint on a canvas before. And there was just something comforting about sitting there, among each other, even though we had little conversation among each other, we all listened to the same tunes, but had different outcomes on our canvases. The feeling was just amazing. I really enjoyed my 2D classes together with everyone, thank you, Miss Lisa, for making this foundation just remarkable, learning so many new things and experiencing unforgettable moments. For all of us. :D

10 shots in 10 secs, but im just gonna put 1 ._.
Well, thats all. I think this might be my last post, so i'm not gonna say "till next post" just in case. But if i do, see ya. i guess? ;)

Tune in two weeks from now for we're gonna have a paint-to-music session on tuesday the 21st. Miss Lisa requested us to buy 2 canvases each, 3 ft by 3 ft for our paint-to-music. Aliff helped everyone who didn't know where to buy -pretty much everyone in class- where we got a discount of not having to pay for delivery to campus yay :D and Denny was in charge of the tunes for half of the class while Miss Lisa will be bringing classical music for the other half of the class. Oh, almost forgot to mention the class would be outdoors, well not exactly a class now i suppose, seeing as its not in a class for that, class. whatever. Sounds interesting, yeah? Not trying to jinx it or anything, but i hope it doesnt rain ._.

Day Trip: Jadi Batek batik workshop

As i've stated in my last post, we went to a batik workshop to visit, observe and work on our own batik pieces. heheh it was pretty fun xD
OH, i almost forgot to give my greetings ( ._.)/ salutations! -kay back to my topic
At this batik workshop somewhere in KL (click to go directly to their site) we.made.our.own.batikkk :D i have pictures!!
But before that, the themes we came up with:
quite a long list.

the list
arrangements of our batiks

aaand after showing all that to Miss Lisa on Monday, she put her favour in suits. (not the card symbols, the other one on the list) So we worked on sketching the designs after that
Here are the sketches

Rosey's sketches
Aina's sketches (ignore my embarassing KFC sketch..)
SO, on to what we did on Tuesdayyyyyy :D
The day trip to Jadi Batek told in pictures,
and a few captions. :

workers demonstrating their canting skills

painting the batik

wax blocks

where the workers refill their canting with wax

the workstations prepared for us

the various colours layed out for us to use

wax pot + multiple cantings for our class
We start by tracing the designs by pencil on the batik as a guideline.
Rosey and Aina tracing the designs on the batik

Then we move on to applying the wax-canting on the batik.
apologies, i did not take any pictures of us canting as we were kinda busy trying to get the wax even on the cloth.

testing out the colours on batik, a few were mixed by urs truly :P
And finally start painting it in. Kinda like paint by numbers, we fill in paint among the waxed lines.
Rosey and Aina again :) too bad Zu was stuck in sick that day :(

failed attempt to capture an entrance shot from the bus..
And in a nutshell -that is my blog-, that was our partial day trip in Jadi Batek. Who knew it was so interesting to paint batik?? From penciling to canting and finally painting it. Everyone was so focused on getting from one step to the other. After that, we were informed that our batiks would be sent to campus by Friday. Well, it did arrive on Friday, but it came after i went home :( meaning i missed it. Well, i'll have to wait till Tuesday seeing as Monday is a public holiday regarding the general elections happening today.
mmhmmm, thats all for now :)
Till next post. Baiiiiiiiii~
