Squares

hello again! :D
During the most recent 2D class -which was on Tuesday- Miss Lisa gave us an in-class activity that had to do with squares. Well, it's pretty much a recap of most of the things we learnt last year in PoD, in a way. That being said, Miss Lisa showed us a few examples of what she wanted us to do. Use a 2 by 2 inch square and design cutouts on the inside and then arrange the cutouts around the outside, or however way it is designed as. Or in other words, expanding our square. :O

These are my sketches:
I have to say, my creativity that day was a little ...little seeing as all i came up with were few to barely any sketches. :(

Initially i had an inspiration to design an arrow piercing through the square, that is, until i found out that my ears had failed to catch Miss Lisa saying how the cutouts had to be arranged together with the square. So i guess i couldn't use this design, but i really liked it so i'm gonna post it here >:D

Well, time for some progress shots:

my plan on paper

first cutout

and the next
keeping the cut out circles under some paper

and the next cutout

and the next again :P

i felt like a can opener, the way i was cutting >_>

and again xD

arranged the circles for fun :D

Ta-da! (ノ°□°)ノ・゚✧
I envisioned it a little like those water and some sort of jelleton-filled hour glass, except in this case it was bubbles coming out of the box.

horrible quality im sorry D:

We actually had to do 2 squares, if we had enough time to, for the in class activity, so i decided to use the other sketch i came up with in class, and made it at home.

Progress shots! xD

This was how i originally had it designed as:
A sort of square tunnel. But no matter how i looked at it, it just seemed a little off from what i expected it to look like. D:

a tunnel that doesn't exactly look like a tunnel

After that i left it in between the other mounting boards just to make sure it didn't get blown away. Since i did my work upstairs, but there was better light plus my glue and desktop was downstairs, i decided to bring everything downstairs and finish it there. That's how this happened:

a box falling off another box in a tunnel
It actually turned out this way, except vertically, but i thought it looked better horizontal, so i turned it to look like there were boxes falling off inside a tunnel (well that's what it looked like to me :P ) So all in all, my second cutout design was actually accidental. But i like it better this way, more than the original placement since it just seemed wrong anyhow. >_>

In class, we were given an assignment seeing as we had mid-term break (Chinese New Year holiday yayy xD ) which was just the same as in class activity, except we have to do 1 symmetrical and another assymetrical versions.

Hmm, i guess that's all for now.
Till next post. Baiiiiiii~
